The owner of Wack Manufacturing had always dreamed of building his own custom RV trailer in order for him to travel in his retirement years. No ordinary trailer would do. This trailer had to be able to stand the test of time, survive multiple trips across the United States and survive a trip to Alaska from Pennsylvania.
The galvanizer worked very closely with Dean before and during construction of the trailer frame. The fabricator delivered the trailer frame to the galvanizing plant and oversaw the hot dip galvanizing process in person. The concern was the potential for distortion during the galvanizing process. The ability of the galvanizer to single dip the 45' long by 8'6" wide trailer helped to minimize distortion and successfully coat the steel in its entirety.
The owner knew they had a unique project for a typical galvanizer. With careful coordination, communication and proper design the team was able to pull it off and deliver a fantastic and unique final product.
This trailer has high visibility, being towed by a Red 1971 Kenworth A900 Road Trailer which features air brakes and air ride suspension. The maiden voyage was 3,000 miles to the Black Hills of South Dakota, heading to Alaska in 2021. Thanks to the overall design and the hot dip galvanizing process this RV will be on the road for many years!
