1958 Championship Game Statue “The Eleven”

The 1958 Championship Game Statue “Eleven” was a project for ArtsinStark and The Pro Football Hall of Fame that celebrates the greatest moments throughout NFL history. The 1958 NFL game was played on December 28, 1958 at Yankee Stadium in Bronx, New York by Baltimore Colts and New York Giants. The history of the moment of the “Greatest Game Ever Played” is the comeback of the Baltimore Colts and Quarterback Johnny Unitas come back to beat the New York Giants in the first sudden death in NFL Championship Game.

The Eleven Statue is 32’ high and consist of 6 separate pieces designed to fit in V&S Amboy’s galvanizing kettle. Each section was made specifically for the Hot Dip Galvanizing process in mind in keeping the size, warping, venting and draining all in mind for an outstanding finish. Jack Howard-Potter was in contact with V&S throughout the design and fabrication of each section. V&S Amboy has been working with Jack Howard-Potter for years and he loves the look, durability and corrosion performance of the Hot Dip Galvanizing.

“I try to capture movement in a medium that does not move.”
