Bill Allen’s Animal Sculptures

Nationally recognized artist, Bill Allen, is known for his unique outdoor metal sculptures. Often featuring animals and insects, they are crafted of welded steel and hot dipped galvanized for corrosion resistance. They are then coated with liquid copper, and sometimes painted for indoor applications. When asked why he chose hot dipped galvanizing, he simply stated he knew it would provide the longest life cycle for his creations, that are often placed outdoors and exposed to many elements in Michigan. He was looking for durability, low life cycle cost and low maintenance, without sacrificing the look of the pieces. One of many sculptures, “Frog”, is featured at Michigan Legacy Art Park.

His passion for wildlife and Michigan came alive with this sculpture. “I have chosen to sculpt a frog because I believe they represent some of northern Michigan’s most unique and special gifts. They are the harbingers of spring,” with each species adding to the chorus.

“I believe that frogs embody the spirit of transformation and survival we in northern Michigan possess, with their unique progression from tadpole to full-grown frog." – Bill Allen

Hot dipped galvanizing provides his customers with a product that will last a lifetime, not only for this project but hundreds of others as well. These projects can be viewed at http://billallenart.com/animals
