The goal of this project was to restore and enhance the marsh brownfield of 50 acres of degraded marsh land in Woodbridge Township Waterfront on the Raritan River to a Greenland complex habitat. The habitat restoration includes freshwater wetland enhancements.
With the restoration system, 2 miles of trails and boardwalks were integrated into the design providing Woodbridge Township with its first public access to the Raritan River in 100 years.
Newark Wire Works fabricated over 2,000 linear feet of hot-dip galvanized wire mesh infill panels in a natural teak hardwood railing system connecting the boardwalk to the 2 miles of trails. The rails are hand-finished to emphasize the wood’s coloring and unique, organic features. Perfectly selected to endure the elements, hot-dip galvanizing is durable with its corrosion performance, which resists insects and helps prevent drying, and adding it with the galvanized frame it is maintenance free for years to come.
